Dear Desire,
I am so excited to start this tradition of writing letters to each other on our birthdays. This is just a letter to my past self on my birthday. I know we don’t really have this in common. And this is not something we usually do, but I feel its time we start something like this. I am not actually writing to just 2018 Desire, but also 2017’s, 2016’s and all the way down the years.
I was wondering how I was going to post this letter to each of you. You very much know before you take any action you have to see through the process to the result. You just don’t take an action before you figure out the process. There is no result without process. It might sound funny but I was thinking WhatsApp would be a good choice. Considering it is the most used means of communication within the past few years. Don’t suggest I send a raven. I am not just thinking that. I know you are thinking that too. But I have this instinct that you are reading this even as I am writing. So, I am guessing you will be done reading by the time I am done writing.
MINISTRY
First and foremost, I am going to tell you about how far we have come this year. All our accomplishments and challenges we overcame. 2019 indeed has been my year of Lights. Trust me! So much leadership and illumination. And I think 2006 Desire will be the best person to begin to relate with this. You remember, the year we join Christ Embassy? Ministry has just been glorious ever since. We have grown so much in wisdom and understanding of the Word. It has been from glory to glory. From when we join the church ministry, to the Loveworld Club in High School through to the Campus Ministry in the University and the Loveworld Next. I am really grateful for the investment our Man of God Pastor Chris had made in our lives. I want to specially thank my group Pastor Christine, my leaders in the Loveworld club back in high school, my Zonal Secretary back in the campus ministry Pastor Shirley and recently my all my leaders and members with the Loveworld Next. I am so grateful for all the investments they made in my life. 2019 will not have being same without them.
BEDESTON
Another extraordinary accomplishment about 2019 was how we finally got to take off on business ideas. You remember how we hoped to start a company in our mid 20’s? Yes! We did it. Bedeston took off officially this year. You might be wondering why I did not use any of the names you guys came up with? Like Phosmos (Light of the world), Hophos and Phosmotek Well! That is another day’s story. The good news is that we were incorporated this year and got our certificate to commence business this year. We already have a few amazing clients on our portfolio this year and a whole lot of amazing inhouse projects. The coming year is really promising. I really appreciate my co-founder and all the amazing people who are on our team. It had not been without challenges. Startup is tough. But I am glad we started this year. At first, I never saw myself as entrepreneurial figure. You guys know that. But I guess we took advantage of the grace of leadership and illumination this year. We still have a lot to learn and building of our personality to do. But it is promising and a good start. I very well know there are still challenges ahead but we will be prepared when we get there. As pastor once said “if we have a dream, we will surely face obstacles. If we do not face obstacles, then we never had a dream from God.” We are therefore ready for the future.
STEM RISING FOUNDATION
2017 Desire, I am going to tell you about the foundation you started in 2017. It was but just a host of ideas then. And I am sorry to break to you that the name “STEM Rising Africa Foundation” has being changed to “STEM Rising Foundation” through the Loveworld Next Network Department. The vision was bigger than Africa. We had to think global. Thanks to Director Eniola and the Data Management and Networks Department Team for believing in me. Director Eniola is an amazing and loving young lady. You would be glad if you met her today. She had immensely helped speed up the vision of the foundation. I am also grateful to the president of the Loveworld Next; Bro Daysman Oyakhilome for his inspiring leadership and trainings. My encounter with him has brought so much speed to the work. The first ever Loveworld Next Conference this year was like something never before. The foundation has so grown after the conference. We are starting STEM Clubs in basic schools and teaching children how to code. I just can’t anticipate what more we are going to do in 2020. I am so glad I am writing to you. This is just to let you know all those words of faith you kept confessing are materializing and coming to fruition.
I have to end my letter here even though I have so much to tell you about this year. Maybe I might write you another letter before the year finally runs off. A huge love from all the amazing people you were yet to meet in 2019. From My cousins and nephews, I met for the first time at granny’s funeral, Director Eniola, Sis Omon, Debby and Bola of the Networks Department of the Loveworld Next. EJ Arthur and the Team at MEX Radio, Michael, Richmond, Akunna, Eunice and a whole lot of them. These people have been amazing personalities that came into my life this year. I hope to hear from you soon. Until then, I love you.
Yours future,
2019 Desire
